Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016 skills assessments

An online proficiency test for Outlook 2016, 2013 and 2010 in English, Dutch and French, is available. It can be used for recruiting purposes, to assess training needs, or to assess the efficiency of an Outlook training program. A test candidate’s proficiency in Outlook is measured via a score on a scale of 1 to 1000. The tests contain images and videos as well as questions in which the candidate performs actions directly within the Outlook program. The questions test 4 different skill areas.

Environment, Configuration, Backup

The questions in this category cover the Outlook interface, ribbon, navigation pane, folders, inbox, customization of Outlook features, the out-of-office assistant, printing options, data management, archiving, creation and customization of accounts, sharing and delegation, and the use of an RSS feed.


Candidates are tested on composing and sending e-mail messages, e-mail formatting, adding different types of attachments, using the cc: and bcc: features, adding a signature, creating delivery and read receipts, creating rules and alerts, message management and search.

Calendar & Tasks

This category tests a candidate’s ability to manage his calendar and Outlook tasks: create appointments and meetings with different options (priority, recurrence, reminders), receive and respond to invitations, create tasks, customize the display, and print their calendar. It also covers delegation and sharing.

Contact Management and Notes

The category covers the administration of Outlook contacts: adding new contacts, creating distribution lists that can be shared and distributed in different formats, displaying contacts in various ways, and grouping them by criteria etc.
